 The European elevator population of more than three million units (in France roughly 500,000 units) is ageing, more 50% are at least 20 years old.

Existing systems are based on technologies of yesterday and generally comply with regulations applied at the date of their installation. Technologies and regulations are constantly changing, especially in recent years, due to innovations validated by “new approach” European directives.

This has resulted in an incredible change in elevators being currently installed but the technological gap between these and the older installations is steadily increasing.
